This is a common trick with strats and Fender explains how to perform it Here: The bridge itself is pivoting on the outer 2 screws while the inner 4 are in place for stability. Currently it's set up with 10's and 4 tremolo springs so the bridge doesn't move as much when bending. It plays like butter, actually the best strat I've ever played.
